Scott Ackerman: It’s All For You
Scott Ackerman: It’s All For You
EXHIBITION: March 3–April 16
OPENING RECEPTION: Saturday, March 4, 4-6pm
SOLO GALLERY
This solo exhibition includes a selection of paintings that Scott Ackerman made over the past two years as gifts or love letters to their eventual owners. Nearly all of the works are signed with the word Lovescott, thus acknowledging the imagined viewer’s act of looking and deriving meaning. As a self-taught artist, Ackerman’s work rejects the formal constraints of traditional Western art; instead, he looks to found objects with rough features as a point of origin, and allows the work itself to guide his process. The resulting paintings are raw, meditative, playful, and imbued with Ackerman’s love of making art.
