Woks on view in this presentation explore the poetic potential of objects—how things, images, and materials can carry memory, symbolism, or emotions. Whether through representation, abstraction, or physical assemblage, works reflect a sensitivity to how form, context, and content interact to tell a story or evoke meaning.
ABOUT THE JURORS
Lauren Aitken and Chase Folsom are co-directors of Headstone, a 1,200sq ft gallery specializing in contemporary artwork showcased through two-person and solo exhibitions. Alongside the gallery, Headstone Workshop operates a boutique ceramic casting studio and teaching classroom complete with a membership studio.
Lauren Aitken received her BFA in ceramics and a BS in Art Education from SUNY New Paltz and studied at the University of Technology in Sydney, Australia. She has taught in multiple ceramic studios locally and owns a consulting business.
Chase Folsom received his MFA in Ceramics from the University of Colorado Boulder and his BFA from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia. He has exhibited his work in over fifty exhibitions nationally and internationally. He has taught at Maryland Institute College of Art, The George Washington University, University of the Arts, New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University, New Jersey City University, SUNY New Paltz, and Virginia Commonwealth University.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
