This exhibition highlights some of the things archivists have to think about. The show’s origins were inspired by a document in the WAA Archives written by Sam Klein (1916-1991), who founded the Archives at the WAA in 1977. The document spells out the skills needed to be a good archivist. While Sam was not professionally trained as an archivist, he made up for it through his enthusiasm for Woodstock art and artists, curiosity and hard work. After 42 years the Archives grapples with some of the same issues Sam dealt with, but also some new things which archivists of today have to think about.
