“Raga. Color and variation. Inside the music we become visible to each other again.” These paintings are part of an ongoing collaboration with poet Jeffrey Katz about life in the present moment: “Pandemic Raga.”  The isolation and sense of a world turned inside out suggested the palette. Often the bright white is conceptually dark—an emptied place, from which creation might begin anew. Despite the epic failing of governments, many ordinary citizens are leading and renewing their communities, so I see the images as essentially hopeful. (The paintings and poems, created in dialogue with each other and the music, can be seen combined in a portfolio of broadsides at” – Mary Katz
