One of the artists well represented in the current Towbin Wing exhibition All Creatures Great and Small is Rosella Hartman (1894-1993). This undated photograph shows her posing with an Indian leopard trainer for the Ringling Brothers circus along with her painting of him entitled “Damoo and his Cats.” The painting was painted while the circus was staying at their winter quarters in Sarasota, Florida. Research indicates that the circus started wintering in Venice, Florida in 1959 so the photo was likely taken sometime before then.
