Kathy Greenwood: Catch, Cover, Carry

June 7– August 11, 2024
Reception: Saturday, June 8 | 4-6pm

This solo exhibition features paintings and multimedia sculptures by artist Kathy Greenwood. Greenwood’s work exists at the juncture between fine art and handicraft, and incorporates objects and themes associated with domestic life and labor, intimations of bed and body, and capacity to carry, cover and protect. She was one of six artists chosen for a 2024 solo exhibition by juror Nicole Hayes, independent curator.

Kathy Greenwood earned a BS in Studio art from the College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY and an MFA in textiles from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI. Her paintings and sculptures are based in the structure and character of domestic textiles and the associations they invoke. Her work has been featured in a wide range of exhibitions at venues including The Art Complex Museum; Porter Contemporary; the John F. Peto Studio Museum; Chesterwood: A National Historic Trust Site; The University Art Museum/University at Albany; The Samuel Dorsky Museum; The Hyde Collection Art Museum; The Albany Institute of History and Art; Miami International Airport; and the Porter-Phelps Huntington House Museum. She resides in upstate New York.
