in the YES Gallery (Youth Exhibition Space)
Opening Reception May 6, 4-6 pm
This month in the YES Gallery we are pleased to show the work from a new collaboration between WAAM’s Education program and JFK. Working with Michelle Weiss, JFK’s art teacher, we developed a program that included art and environmental science. Students sketched from images of fish native to the Hudson River and images that included works from our permanent collection. The students then created foam prints with WAAM Education Curator Beth Humphrey who visited the school art room. The last step was for the students to use watercolor crayons to create a background for the fish.
Our thanks to Principal Dr. Paula Perez for supporting this new collaboration and to Michelle Weiss for making it happen!
