A  Paper Year, Curated by Natalie Horberg

It’s been approximately one year since COVID-19 lockdown measures were in full effect. Faced with isolation, impatience, and fear about the future, these past months have not only acted as a time for personal anxieties to fester, but also for self-reflection at internal growth to take place. A Paper Year is comprised of artworks created during and inspired by the COVID-19 lockdown. With simple paper as the common canvas, this exhibition sheds light on the fragility of our lives while celebrating the ways in which creative self-expression can connect us through this very fragility. Time will go on, but the art left behind will serve as a reminder of what we all went through, individually and together.

Art for Education at WAAM

Education Curator Beth Humphrey works with over 500 students annually across 9 area schools, collaborating with teachers to create innovative and relevant arts-in-education programming. WAAM provides free in-school residencies, annual field trips and fun, hands-on activities. The artwork that students make during these WAAM programs can viewed throughout the year in the Youth Exhibition Space (YES) Gallery.
