Introduced in 2017, the FOCUS series features the work of ten artists in a theme-based exhibition. Selections are curated by a different juror for each exhibition with each artist represented by multiple examples of their work in service to the particular show’s theme.

The last FOCUS show of 2018 investigates the notion of the real in art. Does Realism really portray reality? Is a painting of a black square on a white canvas more or less real than a still life of apples? Is a concept more real than a photograph? And how can what we assume to be real be manipulated to mislead us. All these and other intriguing questions will be explored in this exhibition juried by Daniel Goodwin, Associate Professor of Art at SUNY Albany.
