SVA ❤️  Milton: The Legacy of Milton Glaser
Tuesday, June 21 | 5pm

On June 21 at 5pm via Zoom, WAAM presents a short film screening and virtual lecture on “SVA ❤️ Milton: The Legacy of Milton Glaser,” given by the School of Visual Arts Archives Director Beth Kleber. The presentation is based on the now-closed exhibition “SVA ❤️ Milton” that explored Milton Glaser’s early life and multifaceted career through an immersive experience that placed the enduring influence of Glaser in a real-world context. “SVA ❤️ Milton” celebrates Glaser’s legacy as a designer and teacher through photographs, audio and original work from the Glaser Archives at SVA.

A Woodstock resident and longtime SVA faculty member, Glaser passed away on his 91st birthday in June 2020. Glaser was a co-founder of noted design firm Push Pin Studios and New York magazine. Born in the Bronx and an alumnus of Cooper Union, Glaser is known for many significant logos, including the famous “I heart NY” design. Glaser was an integral member of the WAAM community, designed the poster in celebration of the WAAM Centennial year and was honored together with his wife Shirley in 2015 at the Spring Gala. WAAM has several works by Glaser in its permanent collection.
