Event Details

Artists Richard Kroehling and Lisa Rinzler will discuss their installation Dollarland on display through October 7 in WAAM’s Phoebe and Belmont Towbin Wing

Richard Kroehling, an award winning director who has had his work shown at the Woodstock Film Festival, and Lisa Rinzler, a top flight cinematographer with more than 70 films to her credit, are presenting a workshop version of Dollarland, a major installation project they are in the process of creating. For this workshop version the artists have created two large wall projections showing non-linear narrative video on either side of a jewel-like center piece simulating a burning building from the past. Accompanied by an immersive sound track, beautifully shot and edited scenes are mashed-up with archival photos. You Tube videos and digitally altered footage convey a tragic history, disturbing present, and a dark vision of the future for Dollarland’s citizens.

This unique installation utilizing the latest in technological innovation and embodying a revolutionary approach to narrative storytelling is reflective of the level of art currently being produced in the our region. It will be on view during the run of the WAAM’s Radius 50 exhibition.
