Matter in Flux
A special Sculptural installation in the back yard at WAAM in
conjunction with the WAAM Education program.
This site specific sculpture located in the back yard. The work is part of our ongoing practice “Matter In Flux.” The sculpture is reminiscent of the human body in balance with nature. It is made of environmentally friendly geopolymers, a recycled steel frame, local rocks and plants.
We are a collaborative duo (Kathie Halfin and Jean Carla Rodea) that works in a variety of mediums. Including; sound/music, sculpture, performance, textiles, photography/video and education. Our practice involves a research-based dialogical process where our interests span from the female body and its physical potential to issues of ecology, displacement and communal kinship. We are interested in fictional and re imagined narratives that challenge and subvert existing ones. As immigrants from Mexico and Israel we often grapple with disparate realities, multilingualism, and multiple code switching. It is this liminal space that inspires us to create multimedia work and to advance and foster dialogue within the community.
Please join us for a reception for the artists Sunday September 29 at 1 pm , followed by a closing party at 2pm for Radius 50.
