Book Signing at WAAM
Meet & Greet with Suzi Edwards
Quiet Mind, Crazy Heart
Saturday, October 22 | 3-4pm
Artist Suzi Edwards will hold a book signing with a meet & greet for her spiritual memoir, Quiet Mind, Crazy Heart. Edwards is a storyteller, designer, public artist, and yogi. She trained as a clothing designer at the London College of Fashion in the swinging 60s, then moved to New York where she was wildly successful designing clothes for women.
After a divorce in the early 70s, she was no longer happy with Seventh Avenue, and followed a spiritual path to Woodstock where she began practicing yoga. She completed teacher training with Swami Vishnudevananda in 1973 then spent the next 3 years living in Krishna Ashrams in the US and India. She was initiated by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami in 1975, and given the spiritual name Sri Gopika Devi Dasi, which means beautiful little cowherd girl, servant of Krishna.
She met her husband in the ashram, they moved to Florida, and raised two beautiful loving sons. In her 40s, with the children in school, Suzi found herself lost in service to others. First as facilitator of Art by the Homeless, then as Artist in Residence in the Pediatric Unit of Florida Hospital, and as a mentor to foster kids at Great Oaks Village, Orlando. She found she could use art to help others heal.
She painted, made mosaics, and wrote and illustrated children’s books. She created exterior artwork for new buildings in Florida. Suzi studied mosaics and architectural ceramics from workshops and mentos, creating mosaic and architectural ceramic installations throughout the state: the Orlando Shakespeare Theater, Florida Botanical Gardens, Susan B Katz Theater, and dozens more.
Now in her 70s, Suzi continues exploring the realms of her creativity with: books, digital art, ceramics, and mosaics. She will be Community Arts Facilitator at the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies in 2022, offering free creative exploration workshops.
Suzi found the bottomless font of creativity and healing inside, and would like to share the secrets with you.
“We can each become the best versions of ourselves, healthy, happy, creative, and free.”
This event is FREE and open to the public.
