Discussion of Wild Thing: A Life of Paul Gauguin by Sue Prideaux
Tuesday, April 14 | 3-4:30pm
Join us to discuss the book, Wild Thing: A Life of Paul Gauguin by Sue Prideaux. This recent, myth-busting biography re-examines the controversial Post-Impressionist artist, challenging his “bad boy” image with new research, including family archives and a resurfaced manuscript, to present a more nuanced portrait of his life, art, and advocacy for Tahitian people. The book, praised by The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, argues that Gauguin was a complex figure who fought against French colonialism and corruption, not just a scandalous recluse.
