This unique program brings together two passionate flower enthusiasts, Marietta Brill and Kris Garnier. Through the complementary perspectives of poetry and science, they will discuss ways of connecting more deeply with the pristine beauty of plants and flowers.
Marietta Brill will read her acclaimed poetry on the subject of flowers, bees and nature, and Kris Garnier, sharing her extensive knowledge of local plants, will speak about the importance of pollinator plants and gardens, among other interesting facts related to flowers in the area.
This event is presented in celebration of Flower Paintings from the Permanent Collection, an exhibition showcasing twenty-three works by renowned 20th-century artists of the Woodstock Art Colony. Highlighting the rich traditions of American still life painting, the exhibition underscores the enduring allure of floral subjects in art.
In keeping with this spirit, WAAM is also planting a pollinator garden in the museum’s front lawn, inviting art, nature, and community to flourish together.
