This solo presentation of paintings by Aaron Hauck explores the duality within individuals, in works that are both figurative and abstracted. In this exhibition, Hauck’s work emphasizes both a technical and emotive impetus, and explores the broad application of representation and realism in painting. This body of work embraces traditional painting through depictions of everyday people and interactions, while also giving way to an unstructured approach. Hauck’s paintings welcome moments of weirdness or mistakes –– rather than captured moments of hyperrealism, works are a reflection of the passage of time and inevitability of change.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Aaron Hauck is originally from north central Minnesota. He is a graduate of the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD), where he studied painting. He lived and worked in New York City for 15 years and currently lives/works in Rifton, NY with his partner, also an artist, and their two dogs, who aren’t artists but make him laugh everyday. He has always been, and continues to be fascinated with drawing and painting.
