Bloom: Symbols of Resiliency

EXHIBITION: June 7–August 11, 2024
OPENING RECEPTION: Saturday, June 8, 4-6pm

This exhibition presents documentation of art and poetry made by students as part of a recent mid-Hudson Valley resiliency workshop. The images provide a first peek of the Resiliency Flags, a pilot project inspired by the AIDS Quilt, the January Challenge and other international programs. In making these works, students were guided by Dakota Lane, Resiliency Project director, to use simple observation exercises, expressive art and writing, visioning techniques, and other powerful tools shown to be useful in trauma recovery.

This program was made possible by community partners: Jane St. Art Center in Saugerties, and Woodstock Artist Association and Museum (WAAM), and in Kingston, the Old Dutch Church, the Midtown Arts District (the Bubble), and Roula’s Kids: A Space for Grieving Families, Inc., which provides grief support groups led by Maria Georgopoulos.
