Banner Exhibition: Renewal

Banner Exhibition: Renewal
“Diptych” by Antonio Alvarez
“A Beautiful Mind” by Meredith Morabito
“Dawn” by Thomas Sarrantonio
“Tree of Heaven Seeds” by Jackie Skrzynski
The chosen works for “Renewal”, although quite different from one another, all communicate a sense of rebirth or resilience. I thought it was interesting to see how this theme could be interpreted through a variety of media and styles. The bold, expressive color of Antonio Alvarez’s “Diptych” takes the theme into the purely abstract realm while Thomas Sarrantonio uses a representational approach in his ethereal landscape, “Dawn”, which captures a rebirth we experience daily with a calming ocean sunrise. The flowers emerging from Meredith Morabito’s figurative sculpture, “A Beautiful Mind”, visualizes a more physiological renewal of mind, body, and spirit. Jackie Skryzynski’s botanical still life, “Tree of Heaven (Tondo)”, conveys the resilient power of Mother Nature and the cyclic renewal of lush greenery we experience each spring.
