Friday, September 30 7 PM
Admission: $8/$5 members, students

bill score picPercussionists Bill Solomon (Ensemble Signal, “a stand out among unfailingly fine soloists” – Boston Globe), Jennifer Torrence (Bodø Sinfonietta, Norway), and Trevor Saint (New Haven) present an evening of music by Bard music professor Matt Sargent and emerging composers Henry Birdsey and Nora Knight.

The performance at WAAM by the internationally-acclaimed performers will have a focus on the sounds of the Hudson Valley. The evening includes Nora Knight’s composition, “The Open Field; The View Across the Open Space,” which is based around field recordings made by the artist at Clermont State Park in Columbia County.

The concert represents the continuation of a decade of collaborative work between Matt Sargent and the trio. Sargent’s music has been described as “so simple, so natural, and yet sets up a complex set of interactions.” (Jennie Gottschalk, SoundExpanse) The music on the program was written specifically for these musicians and their unique collection of instruments and virtuosic abilities.
