WAAM is a member-based organization that presents an active schedule of exhibitions each year for artists residing within a 50 mile radius of Woodstock. Members are an integral part of the organization as exhibiting artists, volunteers and serving on the Board of Directors.

There are two levels of membership for artists, Associate or Active.


  • Free or discounted submission fees.
  • Over 15 exhibition opportunities annually.
  • Opportunity to have a solo exhibition.
  • 60% commission on art sales.
  • Consign merchandise in the Shop @ WAAM.
  • Over $3,000 in annual cash awards.
  • Receive mailings and special invitations.
  • 10% discount on art and gift shop purchases.
  • 10% discount at Catskill Art & Office Supply.
  • Special membership rates on admission to events and programs.

How to become an Active member

Active Members receive the added benefit of exhibiting in the annual Active Members Show and may vote for Active Member candidates in the WAAM’s annual Board of Director’s elections each August.

There are four ways to become an Active member:

  • The artist’s work is accepted into four juried shows within a two year period.
  • The artist delivers six artworks for review by a jury selected by the WAAMs Exhibition Committee. The jury meets once each year usually in July.
  • The artist is accepted for a solo show.
  • The artist may submit six .jpgs online at Submissions are accepted throughout the year. Works will be juried by an independent juror on January 22, April 23, July 23 and October 22. Artists will be notified about juror’s decision via email within a week of the jurying date.


The Nominating Committee actively seeks potential candidates for the Board throughout the year.

We believe that being on the WAAM Board of Directors provides a unique and personally rewarding opportunity to leverage your talents and life accomplishments to help our local artists thrive and to support the many programs and activities of the organization – these include our Permanent Collection, our Education Program, our Archives and Library and our exhibitions and artistic programming.

We consider the three W’s in a potential candidate – Work, Wisdom and Wealth. We are a working board and each board member is asked to chair a committee. We are also problem solvers and financial contributors (personally and/or through our network). We need leaders who feel the same energetic commitment and passion for the growth and sustainability of this unique organization and its importance as a major cultural resource in the Woodstock area, the Hudson Valley region, and the National art scene.

General Membership Meetings Schedule for 2018
Meetings of the membership take place twice a year. Elections take place at the August meeting. Both meetings are at 10:00 AM and are held at WAAM.
